Do’s and Don’ts for Dentists on Instagram

A keyboard with social media links on it

Instagram is a social media platform that allows you to engage with your patients while increasing brand awareness—deciding when and what to post could grow your following and gain potential patients. Like any other social media platform, there are a few do’s and don’ts to make your Instagram page as successful as possible.

Instagram Do’s

  • Post real photos of yourself and your staff
  • Feature patients of the month or smile transformations (with permission)
  • Reply to patient comments
  • Create a hashtag for your dental office and encourage patients to tag you in pictures that showcase their beautiful smiles
  • Run contests and giveaways, incentivizing patient interaction
  • Highlight each team member to introduce them to patients (with permission)
  • Respond to tagged photos
  • Follow other local businesses or specialists you work with
  • Share behind-the-scene photos of your sanitization or cleaning techniques

Instagram Don’ts

  • Don’t overwhelm your patients by posting too frequently
  • Don’t use too many filters on your photos
  • Don’t use pictures of patients or staff without permission
  • Don’t overuse hashtags; keep it to two or three
  • Don’t bore your patients by only posting dental facts; make sure to post other fun, engaging content

Building a following on Instagram can help bring in new patients and establish a rapport with current patients. If you need help setting up social media pages for your dental practice, please contact CTC Associates today!
