If you’re a dentist just starting to put together a new marketing campaignArrow, you’re probably figuring out that there’s no shortage of marketing options. Google AdWords, social media, postcards, and even newspaper ads. With all of these options out there, it can be tough to know where to start.

In reality, the best place to start marketing is right inside your own dental office! Selling to your current dental patients is a lot easier and cheaper than trying to bring in new patients. This is because your current patients have continuing dental needs, such as regular cleanings, cosmetic improvements, or restorative work. Since they already know you and your staff and have loyalty to your office, it shouldn’t be tough to bring them back in!

Marketing to Current Dental Patients

Below are a few great ways to market to existing patients and increase practice profitability:

  • Relationship – Organizing an outreach program for dormant patients can be a great way to continue your relationship with your patients. If you don’t stay on your patients’ radar, they may be influenced away to a different dentist or simply neglect their teeth.
  • Re-Care – Making sure that your patients keep their regular 6-month cleanings and checkups is what builds the bulk of your schedule. Devise a strategy to help your patients keep these appointments. This can include staff training, pre-scheduling, timely communication, and reminders.
  • Patient Experience – One of the best ways to market to current patients is to make sure that the patient experience is stellar. Greet each patient with a smile, make sure you run on time, and provide quality dental care. This may even lead to referrals!
