Having Your Dental Practice Open on Weekends and Evenings
Making the choice to have your dental practice open during weekends and evenings can be a profitable and productive decision. However, many of the reasons you may be considering having your office open for extra hours may be better solved by upgrading your dental practice management.
Things to Consider
Before you make the concrete decision to have your dental practice open on weekends and evenings, there are a few things to consider. These are:
- More trouble from your patients. If you are one of the few dental offices that are open during weekends and evenings, you may have more problem patients. This is because it seems like the more accommodating you are, the more your patients will take advantage.
- Consider who will work during the evenings and weekends at your office. The members of your current staff may be reluctant to give up evening and weekend time with their families and friends.
- Demand for weeknight and weekend service is largely regional. Keep this in mind when trying to decide whether or not to extend hours.
- People may think they’ll be able to work a full day and then make a dental appointment, but when it comes time to visit your office, your patients may be tired and overwhelmed from a long day. This can prompt more last-minute cancellations or even no-shows in your office.
If you’re considering extending your dental office hours to weekends or weeknights and would like more information, please contact CTC Associates. Our dental consultants can help you decide if this is a good option for your practice.
