Dental Marketing TruthsThere’s no question that the Internet can be a great marketing tool. However, it must be done correctly. We’ve found that there’s no shortage of myths and misconceptions when it comes to marketing your dental practice online, and these can hinder your ability to do it successfully.

Myths & Misconceptions About Internet Marketing

Below are some of the most common misconceptions about how to market online and the truth behind the myths:

  1. Marketing online is all you’ll need – While online marketing is surely a very valuable resource, it’s definitely not the only one. There are plenty of other ways to market yourself, including billboards, postcards, Yellow Pages, and mailers. These print marketing strategies, when done correctly, can help bring in dozens of new patients.
  2. Email is ineffective these days – We hear this one quite a lot, but it’s definitely a myth. Email is as effective as ever when it comes to marketing your business. However, there are certain things you need to do to make sure you’re properly marketing through email. Otherwise, those on your email list may become bored by your content or feel bombarded.
  3. If you have a website, visitors will come – Building a website is a good idea, but don’t expect it to bring in visitors all by itself. Make sure you’re continually updating your site and adding relevant and interesting content, as well a utilizing various SEO (search engine optimization) strategies.
  4. It’s too expensive to hire a marketing firm – Not only is this a myth, but the exact opposite may be true. These days, you can’t afford not to have a professional marketing expert helping you through this process. The money you spend marketing your dental practice will pay for itself many times over and you bring in more and more new patients.

The ability to analyze your dental practice and put together a marketing plan that best fits your needs is the #1 way to bring in more patients. In the end, it doesn’t matter how friendly or staff is or how skilled you are in dentistry; if you aren’t marketing properly, your dental practice will suffer.
